Dr Sharayu Rane: A passionate Neonatologist

Myself: A passionate Neonatologist

India, being most populous country in world, birth rate is very high. With advancing maternal age; weight and stresses, pregnancies are getting complicated. With rapidly increasing fertility issues, many conceptions are with fertility techniques. With advances in medical facilities, women with complex medical disorders on various medicines are planning to pregnancies. A large number of these women deliver preterm....

During my combined experience of 3½  years at India’s best NICU of Surya hospital, Santacruz and largest NICU of Raigad district at Chirayu Children’s’ hospital; I have developed a keen interest in Neonatology. It is my passion to suspect and diagnose the versatile neonatal conditions and complications. I get indulged in assessing the issues and planning the management for their survival with limited morbidities.

During my work at Surya hospital with Dr Nandakishor Kabra & Dr Anish Pillai, I have published a large case series on drug modification in neonatal ventilation for extreme preterm babies in international journal : American Journal of Paediatrics. I also have published few rare cases in national journals and a few are in writing.

My additional knowledge and experience in Neo-POCUS (neonatal scans); it has become easier to diagnose various structural defects in real-time. This really has changed the perspective at minute details of management and has empowered us with great success in limiting the interventions and NICU stay. With availability of advances in diagnostics and critical care therapeutics, it has become possible to survive neonates as tiny as 400grams.

Advanced set-up and trained team like Neocare hospital have given an additional confidence in neonatal management. Association with superspecialists like paediatric cardiologist, paediatric nephrologist, paediatric surgeon has accelerated the actions and interventions quicker than ever.

Ayansh clinic: place of my joy!

At Ayansh clinic, we have a well-baby clinic, where we ………..

The high-risk preterm follow-up is important for babies discharged from NICU after a prolonged stay. During this, we assess for adequacy of growth, nourishment, neurodevelopment and check for prolonged complications of medicines / procedures performed during early days. If all is well, we repeat it for a few months. If something noticed, we advise actions at appropriate centers for…etc and follow-ups may go on for longer duration till recovery.

We carry neurodevelopmental assessment and offer speech therapy for … at …; neurocognitive therapy for autistics in association with reputed centers., physiotherapy for babies with birth defects of hands / feet, gait defects.

Our lactational counselling is highly recommended for new mothers, specially curated for nuclear families and for nannies. This is continued further with nutritional advises for adequate growth of babies with timely assessments.

Neonatal screening is a series of blood tests at birth to detect rare but serious health conditions. These tests include blood related, hormone related and metabolic diseases, which may present at later life with irreversible complications. And if detected early, the actions can be taken to prevent complications by measures as simple as dietary modifications.

Vaccination center: We offer birth vaccines and we run a complete vaccination clinic from birth till adolescence, specifically for girls.
